Willing to Change

The time has come (if you are an American) to address the issue of the presidency, as elections are looming forward for 2008. In recent years, both the democratic and republican candidates have had negative qualities, which made it difficult to accept a decent president. This year, I have found my favorite hopeful for candidacy: Barrack Obama.
However, many critics ask if the US is ready for the first black president. This question astounds me. Are we not the land of the free? And didn't we strive to eliminate the bigotry of racism in this country? So by asking this question, critics are admiting to the flaws in our society. And if we continue with our streak of white male presidents, how will this promote the idea of equality? Maybe it's time for change!

Your comment regarding folks running in recent years for president appear to have "negative qualities" is not really a new issue. I can remember my father (back in the day) saying that we have to figure out who is the lessor of two evils.

Regarding Obama, it appears that he has the "stage presence", but the proof will be in the pudding. Sure am glad hes beatin his leading competition (and thats NOT because shes a chick).
